Why did GM/Chrysler guys get hauled before Congress two days after Obama said government would be hands off?

I can't be the only one grasping the ridiculousness of the situation, right? On Monday Comrade Obama declares government will be hands off with its new automotive toys, but by Wednesday people from GM and Chrysler get hauled in front of Congress to play Kangaroo Court with the ladies and gents. What gives? Did Comrade Obama pull another fast one?
